Skittles New Website: Social and User-generated Media

Skittles have launched a new website! Compiling all of the social and user-generated media that exists around their product, as opposed to providing an actual destination, the new site is just a means of driving visitors to this content. With a little navigational overlay, each tab drives you somewhere else online where skittles content lives. Choose videos and you are driven to Youtube. Chatter takes you to a Twitter search of every mention of Skittles. Pictures takes you to Flickr and of course Friends takes you to Facebook…

They are letting the consumers conversations speak for their product.

Embracing social and user-generated content has its risks, but companies cannot afford to ignore it. Bringing it to the center of their customers attention like this isn’t necessary…
